The Memorial Day weekend can be made spicier if a few prawns and salmon burgers are also baked even if the crush for hamburgers is allowed to stay as a summertime staple.
The seafood burger will be a pleasant diversion that is tangy and also offers protein and healthy fats.
When the spicy mayo sauce joins it, be assured it will be a perfect light lunch or dinner meal. The prawn and salmon burgers are light, fresh, and rich in Omega-3 with a fabulous taste.
It is also not hard to make and the making will be through in half an hour. Spicy Mayo is a yummy condiment made from mayonnaise and hot sauce. Spicy Mayo as a top will be creamy, savory, on everything from sushi to French fries. Now let us prepare the much-anticipated prawn and salmon burgers.
• 180g pack peeled raw prawns
• 4 seeded burger buns, toasted, to serve
• 4 skinless salmon
• fillets, chopped into small chunks
• 3 spring onions
• 1 lemon
• zested and juiced
• small pack coriander
• 60g mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
• 4 tsp chili sauce
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 cucumber, peeled into ribbons
• 2 Little Gem lettuces, shredded
Blitz half the prawns, half the salmon, the spring onions, lemon zest, and half the coriander in a food processor to make a coarse paste. Put this in a bowl, add the rest of prawns and salmon, do the seasoning and shape into four burgers. Keep it chill for 10 minutes.
Now mix the mayo and chili sauce in a small bowl, season and add lemon juice to taste. Mix the lettuce with the cucumber, dress with a little of the lemon juice and 1 tsp olive oil and keep aside.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the burgers for 4 minutes each until a nice crust develops ensuring the fish is well cooked. Serve with the salad or in toasted burger buns with a decent dollop of the spicy mayo.
On burgers, a recent study revealed some unique preferences. It said 73 percent of Americans liked meat-based burgers. Nearly 70 percent wanted cheese as a burger topping, with ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles as other preferences. There is also a niche section of burger lovers seeking bacon, mayo, mushrooms, and fries on their burgers.
